PUBLIC MEETINGS IN THREE STATES WILL ADDRESS POWERLINE

Allegheny Energy officials are holding public meetings on the company's latest plans for a high-voltage power line in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland.

The company plans three open house meetings, one in each state, in early December.

The meetings, according to the power company, will address questions about the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline, which would run from Charleston to a new substation in Kemptown, Md.

Allegheny spokesman Allen Staggers says the company will likely file a proposal for the so-called PATH line with the West Virginia Public Service Commission early next year.

Jefferson County Commissioner Rusty Morgan says some residents oppose the project out of health concerns.

The meetings will be held in Charles Town, Clearbrook, Va. and Frederick, Md.
