Virginia B. Slider Starcher, 87, of Vienna, passed away December 16,
2001, at Camden-Clark Hospital.
She was born December 2, 1914, at Barnes Run, Calhoun County, a daughter of the
late William Harvey and Oma Yeager Slider. Virginia was a homemaker and
enjoyed gardening. She attended the Sand Hill United Methodist Church of Boaz.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clifford Starcher; one daughter and
son-in-law, Jean S. and John R. Broughton of Marietta; one son-in-law, Dr.
Robert Sams of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Steven and Eric Sams of
Parkersburg, Patricia Sams of Little Hocking, Paul Broughton of Teays Valley and
David Broughton of Marietta; one brother, Harry Slider of California; one sister,
Greta Sampson of Akron; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Ann
Sams; and nine brothers and sisters, William, George and Harley Slider, Elva
Naylor, Ellen Craddock, Ollie Starcher, Lova Whystell, Bessie Allen and Deane
Slider.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral
Home of Vienna. Rev. Jeff Nolte will officiate. Interment will follow in the
Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home. |
