PROPST SWORN TO CALHOUN SUPERINTENDENT'S POSITION

Former Calhoun principal and administrator Roger Propst was sworn to be the county's Superintendent of Schools during a board meeting last night. He will assume duties Thursday.

Propst has been appointed to the position by the local school board to fill a vacancy following the resignation of Jane Lynch.

He is a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a 1965 graduate of Calhoun County High School. He attended Glenville State College following high school and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelors Degree in Education.

He later earned his Masters Degree in School Administration from the University of WV, College of Graduate Studies. He has also earned an additional 45 Graduate Hours in school related coursework.

Propst was employed by Calhoun County Schools as Attendance Director and Director of Supportive Services in 1980; became Director of Finance for Calhoun County Schools in 1988 until 1991; employed by RESA V in Parkersburg as Director of Computer Services and Finance - 1991 to 1997.

He was the Principal of Administration at Calhoun Middle-High School from 1998 to 2003.

During the interim from 2003 until present he has worked independently as a Software Consultant.

Propst retired July 13, 2007 as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army Reserve.

Earlier in his career from 1971 to 1980, he was employed by WVDHHR as Economic Services Supervisor.

Roger and Loretta are the parents of two children, Jennifer Lynn and Gregory Allen (deceased) and are the very proud grandparents of five grandchildren: Caden, Kyler, Shayla, Mason, and Colton.

He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Grantsville and enjoys spending time with his family and co-owning Country Pride Labradors, an AKC registered Lab breeding program.
