Arnoldsburg Title One, in conjunction with the Parent-Educator Resource Center, hosted a round table discussion on child discipline, Friday, November 7 at the Arnoldsburg School.

Presenters Patsy Kisner and Lisa Groves shared information from John Rosemond's book, "The Disease of America's Children."

The discussion centered on looking at the differences between traditional child rearing and what Rosemond calls postmodern psychological child rearing.

In traditional child rearing the focus is on self worth, character building, humility, modesty, and self-control. The outcome is that children view their world as adult centered and themselves as contributors.

With postmodern child rearing, the focus is on high self-esteem, personal achievement, and feelings. Children are consumers and view themselves as the center of their world.

The workshop was informative and very thought provoking.
