CALHOUN CANVASS MAKES LITTLE CHANGE IN TALLY

(11/11/2008)
The Calhoun Commission canvassed the General Election results yesterday, making little change in the final tally of the election.

Forty-seven provisional ballots (originally called challenged ballots) were reviewed, the commission approved 35.

Many of the provisional ballots were related to poll workers voting out of precinct, while several of those disallowed were related to voting in the county with residence in another county or not being registered.

County Clerk Richard Kirby said he had one complaint from a voter who said after voting their vote was shifted to an opposing candidate.

Kirby said he went to the precinct and could not find a problem.

The woman voted on a different machine with the correct results, saying he could find no evidence related to the changing of the woman's vote on the first machine.

The commission will meet Thursday afternoon to officially certify the election.
