Ronald H. Victor, 62, took up residency in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 22, 2008.
He was born in Akron to the late Raymond and Violet (Roach) Victor, and was a 1966 graduate of Central High School. He was a lifelong member of the Brown Street Baptist Church and worked for the Akron Metro Parks as a Ranger for 13 years before becoming a law enforcement officer.
He was the maternal grandson of the late Jasper and Berdie Roach of Henry's Fork, Calhoun County, West Virginia.
Officer Victor retired from the Springfield Township Police Department with over 30 years of dedicated service to his community. He founded the "Fill-The-Cruiser" program, which provided for the area needy. He was also heavily involved in Community Policing, especially in the Shop-With-A-Cop and Children's Fishing Derby programs. He was also an active member of the FOP #157 and enjoyed working Marine Patrol on Springfield Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Conners. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna; children, David (Brandy), Kimberly (John) Wren and Kelly Victor; grandchildren, Hannah, Andrew, Jeremiah and Brendan; brother, Charles; sisters, Barbara and Donna; and many loving nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Brown Street Baptist Church, 541 Brown St., Akron, OH 44311, with Pastor Robert L. Kuhns officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. from 4 to 8 p.m. October 24 and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
