DRIER THAN A BONE - Region Languishes For Lack Of Rainfall

(10/18/2008)

Record-keepers are saying September and the first two weeks of October are likely the driest in one hundred years.

Most Calhoun streams have dried-up while a few are still barely running, including the Little Kanawha and the West Fork of the Little Kanawha.

With leaves falling to the ground this week in Calhoun and regional counties, forest fire risk is very high.

Some county residents are suffering from a shortage of well water.

Little rain is in the forecast.
