Hershel L. Ashley, 84, passed away peacefully at his home October 3, 2008 and has entered his heavenly home.
Born January 4, 1924 in Reedy, West Virginia, he worked for 33 years at the Akron Barberton Belt Line, served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was very proud of his gardening.
Preceded in death by parents, Ross and Hazel; wife, Wanda; son, Robert; daughter, Pam; and son-in-law, Ronald Miller; he will be deeply missed by his family who loved him very much.
He is survived by children, Patricia (Mick) Wenhold, Sharon Miller, Sheila Ashley, Terry Ashley, and Eric (Michelle Butler) Ashley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Calling hours were Monday, October 6, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m., with funeral service at 8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave., Barberton, Pastor Jim Davis officiating.
Calling hours were Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 1 to 2 p.m. at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, 406 Market St., Spencer, WV. Burial at Fox Cemetery on Bear Run, WV.
