Enjoyed the Molasses Festival with my friends Mary, Sherry, and Joe Moore on Friday. Was nice to see Jerry Jones and his family there.
Jerry had been blading for a week and was there to the end. I was happy that Mary met Jerry, they had a good conversation about making molasses. Didn't know that the juice coming out of the press was so sweet and green. Jerry said if you would drink half cup it would give you the runs. Didn't know that.
In the contests Jerry's children Candan won a rabbit and his daughter Kathy won a white chicken.
I was happy to see Mavis Siers, Larry Cottrell and his wife, Scott and Gay Bailey, Sherry Mace and her newborn baby girl. She was beautiful.
Mary Moore hit a turkey on the way to the festival. It hit the right side windshield and glanced of the drivers side. There was a drop of blood on the passengers side but the turkey kept on up the hillside. Hope it made it but I don't think so. Glad it didn't break the windshield. We all had a good time but Mary was disappointed she couldn't buy molasses while she was there. Jerry has saved her a quart. How nice!
I have a new little cat that showed up here. Poor little things. Buddy has gotten run over. Wish there was a better place for them to show up. Route 16 is a death penalty. It's a shame.
PawPaw Pie

1 1/2 cups pawpaw pulp (process in blender until smooth)
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
l teaspoon flour
l tall can evaporated milk (never heard of a tall can, thinking this is an old recipe)

Bake at 450 degrees for fifteen minutes and reduce heat to 350 about thirty minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Enjoy these blue October skies and have a wonderful week!
