Where Will Your Pet Go If You Must Evacuate?
By Kathy Wood
Everyone loves their pet they are part of families.
If you must be evacuated from your home due to flooding or any other disaster or emergency, your pet can not go to shelters.
The only other option would be to turn your pet loose and maybe it would survive, but would you ever find your best friend?
"I feel my dogs are part of my family and I need to feel comfort knowing there are caring people willing to care for them in a time of crisis," said Wood.
"I am asking others that feel the same way to take a minute and think of a way we can work together to care for our pets in such a situation," she said.
"I'm looking for a shelter for pets in Calhoun.
"We need someone to donate the use of a building that has electricity, with caring people to rescue pets, transport and care for them."
Woods said the project would also need some kennels and leashes of different sizes, food and water bowls, cash to buy food and water.
Are you willing to aid in the event of an emergency?
