NINTH VETS DAY APPRECIATION DINNER BIG SUCCESS - Old And New Soldiers Honored

The Arnoldsburg community building was packed with veterans and
family members, being recognized for their service to America

A large number of Calhoun and regional veterans attended the 9th annual Appreciation Dinner Saturday. The event, held at the Arnoldsburg Community Park is sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of Grantsville's VFW Post 5959.

A large covered dish dinner was served.

VFW Auxiliary president Frances Tanner acknowledged the veterans, spanning World War II to Iraq, expressing appreciation for their service.

Possum Holler Pickers and the Eugene Parsons Band with Bill and Hazel Westfall provided entertainment.

Regional veterans attended the covered dish dinner

The Auxiliary recognized four van drivers for their service, Robert Yoak (568 hours); Adrian Ball (110 hours); Burl Simmers (30 hours) and James Yoak (30 hours), and van coordinators Paul and Freda Whytsell.

Also recognized was Ladies Axillary 5959 officers, Frances Tanner, president; Francie Adwell, Sr. vice president; Darlene Smith, Jr. vice president; Freda Whytsell, secretary; Tina Hammack, treasurer; Marie Hays, guard; Earnestine Ball, conductress; Linda Norman, chaplain; trustees, Freda Whytsell, Shirley Ball and Linda Staton.

VFW 5959 officers, Albert Tanner, commander; Scott Mathess, Sr. vice-commander; Victor Whytsell, Jr. vice-commander; Stan Norman, quarter master; Paul Whytsell, service officer; Bob Yoak, chaplain; trustees Adrian Ball, Roger Yoak and Charles Snyder.
