Hester A. Starcher, 94, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Thursday, September 18, 2008, in Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley.
She was born November 12, 1913, at Ernest, Roane County, a daughter of the late John Wesley and Fannie Keffer Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Herbert L. Rowh in 1966 and Daniel Starcher in 1993; one son, Gerald A. Rowh; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Batton; one stepson, Donford Starcher; two brothers, Orliss and Wesley Harold Webb; two sisters, Orva Miller and Edith Griffith.
Mrs. Starcher was a 1934 graduate of Spencer High School, a former employee of the Spencer Hospital, a member of the A.A.R.P, and member of the Spencer Baptist Temple, where she had also been a member of the church choir.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty L. Harper of Elkview, WV and Sandra S. Arnold of Nitro, WV; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Sunday September 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Smith Epling officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
