Storytelling time for historical society
It was show and tell time at the Christmas get-together for the Calhoun
Historical Society Thursday evening. President Bob Bonar displayed a sword
donated by Tommy Carper, son of the late Mattie Carper and World War I
"leggins" and photos donated by Emily Gainer.
Historian and writer Joy Gilchrist Stalnaker, who was scheduled to speak,
was unable to attend the meeting.
The December meeting was held at the home of Carl and Helen Morris of
Grantsville, after a soup, with lots of extras dinner served to the
membership.
Most of the evening was spent storytelling, topics ranging from the oil and
gas magnate Godfrey L. Cabot to early roads and trails leading to the
county.
