If you've been worried about your gasoline costs and major proposed increases in natural gas and electric, you'd better buck-up some more.
The state Public Service Commission has scheduled public hearings in October on West Virginia American Water Co.'s latest request for a rate increase.
The large corporation, which now provides water to most of WV's customers, is asking for a second increase of 12.37 percent. That equals a 27% increase for 2008.
A nearly 15 percent increase was approved in mid-March.
West Virginia American has said it needs the rate increase to combat rising expenses and to recoup part of the $29.2 million it invested in its operations in the state last year.
