HARD TO BELIEVE, CRESTON WAS A BOOMING TOWN

(09/19/2024)

1905- Creston was once a booming town, shown here is a section
facing the Little Kanawha River, with stores, mills, livery
stables, hotels, physician's office, all the old structures
gone with the more recent arson of the Creston General Store; Creston's up-river neighbors Richardson and Arnoldsburg, likely had a greater population than Grantsville

Ferry service was at Creston (and Annamoriah) into
the 1960's, difficult for travelers on WV 5 to believe
