Wow. What a game against the Calhoun Red Devils on Friday night. I think some came expecting an easy win. I don't think they realized whom they were reckoning with. We are the Ritchie Rebels not the Peanuts Gang! I like to watch an event where both teams have to work at it. I hate going when one team just cremates the other and it's all over. That makes for a boring game. Anyway, congratulations to Coach Holden and his Posse for a game well played! My blood transformed from Calhoun Red to Ritchie Blue on Friday night. (Especially during the first quarter)

We had a cow outage on Friday morning. Before I take the boys to the bus, I scope the place to note where the cows are hanging out. If I don't see any, I leave my gates open. This particular morning there was not a cow to be seen. I took the boys to the bus as usual. On my way home, I noticed four cows in Junior's yard. I got out of the car (apparel being nightshirt and flip-flops, typical redneck mom clothing) and ran around the yard after them.

I ditched the flip-flops quickly because the grass was still wet. I sensed that a fall would be inevitable if I kept them on. I also thought there would be someone who would find the fall a Kodak moment. Anyway, I got the chicks (I had a different adjective to describe them at the time) back in the fence and felt sure it would happen again if I turned my back long enough. My advice to avoid this situation is just taking the few extra steps to close the gates instead of risking an unflattering photo.

It has been said there is some land up for sale on Beason. There is a real estate sign at end of the road if you want more information. I believe it is nailed upon our famous "announcement tree". Beason doesn't need any neon lights or billboards, our tree will put you in the right direction. Have tree, have staple gun, and you have instant advertisement! Of course, there is the old bus house as well. It has also been used for various news. I believe a sign for my birthday was taped on there. Why would I want my name in lights when I can have it on a bus house?

Halloween is just right around the corner. Its one of my favorite times of the year. I am sure the Rainbow Grange will have its annual fall fling around Halloween. The Grange's scary affair is a lot of fun and open to the public. The highlight of the event has always been my costume of choice. Lucy (of Peanuts) has said, "One should choose a costume that is closest to her personality." Well, I don't know if any of my past costumes have been close to my personality, but, they have all been remembered fondly. So, here's to Halloween! The one day of the year one can be almost as trashy as they want in public without being arrested. As of this writing, I do not have an official time or date of the fall fling. I will be sure to pass it on as soon as possible.

I spoke with my Mom about hitting a Pioneer football game this fall. I think she has been to a few in the last couple of years. My Mom graduated from GSC in 1955 and I am a student on hiatus until I can pay for my last 9 hours. Anyway, my Mom can be really fun at a football game (she gets it from me). I can remember one game we attended back in 1985. The cheerleaders were throwing footballs in the crowd and my Mom caught a ball with one hand right in front of a student. That did not fly well with the locals. I was pretty certain I was going to be banned from GSC before I even started. However, we survived and are left with a priceless memory.

I have noticed our all-natural neighbor had quite a few tomatoes on the yard furniture. I don't think I had any worth speaking of. Even if I did, it was only accidental. I am not a Ms. Greenjeans in any way shape or form. My sunflowers came up and that's all I was concerned about. I just don't dig the canning and gardening scene at all.

I don't listen to country music a lot, but, when I do there is always a song that jumps out at me. I found "Johnny and June" by Heidi Newfield a great tune. Check it out.
