Calhoun High School Student Council, GEAR-UP and PRIDE team sponsored a work day at Calhoun Middle-High school August 23.
"Students, staff, parents and community members turned out to help get our building ready for the opening of a new school year," said principal Karen Kirby.
A group of men worked on the landscaping and repaired a slip off the circle driveway in front while others inside were busy washing doors and lockers, dusting walls and heat vents or helping teachers move furniture.
Refreshments were provided by PRIDE and GEAR-UP. Kirby said, the hard work and volunteerism of everyone who supports our school is greatly appreciated.
Volunteers included Calvin Wilson, JoLynn Wilson, Holly Wilson, Kyre Minney, Kelsey Collins, Marisha Collins, Chelsey Ball, Eric Cheeseman, Bev Morford, Kayla Boggs, Shari Johnson, Robyn Ellison, Joshua Ellison, Kelli Whytsell, Andy Bremar, Terry Harris, Karen Kirby, Richard Kirby, Rand Ball, Caleb Ball, Linda Jarvis, Linda Shock, Aniata Parsons, Betty Westfall, Jane Carpenter, Stephanie Carpenter, Terri Goodnight, Jeanne Montgomery, Oras Wade, Jr., Kaya Bennett, Bryson Montgomery, Sam Brady, Josie Montgomery.
A fall workday is being discussed by groups in the school, date will be published as soon as it is available.
