A highlight of FRESHtival! held last week at the Upper West Fork Park was the judging of the Giant Zucchini Contest.
Participants were children who received seeds in June through 4-H camp or the Calhoun County Farmers' Market.
First place winner was Ashley Allen of Rosedale $25, second place winner was David Metheney of Chloe $15, third place winner was Jesse Allen of Rosedale winning $10.
The first annual FRESH!tival was held August 30 at the Upper West Fork Park in Chloe. The celebration of the abundance and benefits of fresh, locally-grown produce was provided by the vendors and friends of the Calhoun County Farmers' Market and sponsored in part by grant funding through the WV Department of Agriculture.
