Welcome to Beason's little piece of the paper. We look forward to your visit all week.
The Ritchie Rebs travel to St. Mary's for their season opener. Once again, I am torn between two teams. My cousin, Nicholas, has assumed the position of kicker for the Blue Devils. I will be put in the same position again when Calhoun plays Ritchie.
Why don't they make a set of "middle of the road" bleachers so I don't feel like a traitor? I do love football season though. Maybe it's the chill in the air, the roar of the crowd or my kids telling me they want to go home before the end of the first quarter. The Beason folks wish both teams good luck and hope they remember good sportsmanship is just as important as anything else.
Last week I spoke of K.B.'s car having some issues. I am not a real big believer in "signs" (except for Bill Engvall's) but, my beloved Grand Prix decided to have issues of its own and finally passed to Pontiac Heaven. So, now my Torrent has a Guardian Grand Prix. Perhaps it will protect it from some of my wrath.
The Beason Blond and her Posse took Cincinnati by storm. The vacation was too short, but, long enough for Cinci to remember me. We visited the zoo on one afternoon. The animals were all active even though the temperature seemed astronomical (it was a cool 96 degrees that day). The insect section was the most active in the whole place.
Apparently, the bugs had gone through a "dry spell" during the summer. They were making up for lost time just as my kids were touring their habitats. I insisted that we would miss the monkeys if we didn't leave in a hurry. I didn't want any questions asked that I was not prepared to answer. Vacation is not the time to explain the facts of life. That's the reason Moms go on vacation-to avoid that stuff. However, monkeys outrank bugs anyway.
The Posse and I did the King's Island thing the following day. SpongeBob was waiting for me as soon as I passed through the ticket booth. Bob doesn't speak at King's Island which made the experience even better. As far as I was concerned, my mission was accomplished and I was ready to go.
Then, Scooby came into the picture and I decided to stay awhile. It's funny how kids think Scooby-Doo hasn't been on the scene very long. I remember watching the show on Saturday mornings as a child. The creators have never gone insane and turned the show into something too far away from the original S.D. idea. Scooby and I got our picture taken together and he gave me a long hug. I don't' know if it was because I loved him or it was just the wet t-shirt. I haven't quite figured that one out yet. All in all, the whole trip was great and very do-able with small kids.
School will finally be in session on August 26th. I have been ready for this day for months. I think the boys have spent a great deal of time at each other's throat. I don't want to give out any names, but, a small red headed boy instigated quite a bit. I would say he has a good butt-kicking coming to him when he is older. He certainly has earned it. Bless a blond boy's heart for tolerating as much as he did.
I bet my mom is glad her other three kids were almost out of high school by the time I was 6 or 7. I am sure I would've earned some awards for instigation. I am sure our bus driver will be looking forward to seeing my smiling face again. Hopefully, I can be on time more often rather than Mr. Boone having to save my sorry butt. Of course, I have said that for the past 3 or 4 years. But, this time I really mean it! (But let's not have that written in stone anywhere).
Most of the Beason yards have been kept really nice this summer. Well, my yard does not fall into that category. My sunflowers are really pretty and that's just about it. Sometimes I secretly hope the cows will come in and eat the grass so I don't have to weed eat. If you need a good laugh, come over and watch me attempt the art of weed eating. I understand it's quite humorous.
My song pick is "She Never Cried In Front Of Me" by Toby Keith. I chose it for two reasons. (1) Being a meaningful song and (2) Toby is always himself and never lets anyone influence his decisions. I think we can all appreciate that.
Peace and happiness to you from us.
