The Calhoun Board of Education went into executive session Monday night to discuss problems related to the relationship with Superintendent Jane Lynch and board members.
The board has been at odds with Lynch for several months over what they say are procedural problems, delays in hirings and a multitude of other issues.
The board will hold a special workshop on September 8 with Howard O'Cull, Executive Director of West Virginia School Boards Association, to assist the board in setting goals for the superintendent.
Monday's meeting saw two other executive sessions, one dealing with the alleged hazing incident and another over the hiring of Trina Beall as a half-time health teacher.
After the executive session, the board voted to re-post the job for which Beall had been recommended.
Superintendent Lynch gave a positive report of the removal of asbestos mastic from the Pleasant Hill School, indicating the job was done and air quality tests showed no problems.
Board president Cynthia Dale continued to push for an on-line program that allows parents to access student information and grades. Lynch said progress was being made to use the program.
Dale expressed concerns for how summer employees are evaluated.
The board voted to extend the comment period on policies related to the valedictorian/salutatorian; graduation requirements, grading and work-based learning. The board will vote on the policies on September 5.
The board approved a number of personnel issues, early dismissals, transfers, home school requests and a volunteer agreement.
