Two days after state Department of Health and Human Resources Secretary Martha Walker submitted a letter saying 20 county pre-kindergarten programs were not approved, she has decided to approve the plans.
One of the 20 plans waiting approval was for Calhoun.
On Wednesday, in a letter to state Board of Education President Delores Cook, Walker indicated she was worried how the state's new pre-kindergarten program will affect child-care centers across the state.
If a center isn't included in a county's plan, it may not have enough children and be forced to close, she said.
