A 38-year-old Sand Ridge man, Kenneth Junior Rush (left) has been charged with sexual assault in the first degree and engaging in sexual intercourse with a five-year-old female.
After being given Miranda Rights by Cpl. D. P. Starcher of the Grantsville Detachment of the State Police, Rush told the officer "he had made love with the victim," according to the complaint.
The complaint says Cpl. Starcher interrupted Rush, reminding him of his Miranda Rights, with Rush continuing to say he had sex with the child on two separate occasions.
The incidents, according to the complaint, occurred at a residence on Crummies Creek in July.
Rush is being held in Central Regional Jail on $50,000 bond.
His attorney Rocky Holmes has requested a mental examination, the case is expected to be transfered from magistrate court to Calhoun Circuit Court.
In 2005 Arnoldsburg firemen and volunteers combed the Bear Fork wilderness after Rush disappeared.
Rush was reported to have been in a car accident in 1990, suffering serious impairments from the incident.
In another incident, Rush wrecked his bike on Sand Ridge hill and had to be life-flighted to a Charleston hospital.
