Cecil Davis, 93, of Sand Ridge, West Virginia died August 9, 2008 at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, WV after a long illness.
He was born October 13, 1914 in Vaughan, West Virginia a son of the late William Floyd and Ethel Harrison Davis. He was a mechanic and sawmill operator and was a lifelong collector of Model O gauge model trains.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leah Jean Lockney Davis; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bambi and Greg Parsons of Pine Creek WV, Kandi and Darrell Pingley of Sand Ridge, and Tammy and Ron Jett of Orma WV; one son, Bill Davis of Sand Ridge; three sisters, Thelma Whittington of East Bank WV, Jean Cuetnick of Century WV, and Callie Sanson of Poca WV; four brothers, Charles Davis of Giles WV, William Floyd Davis, Jr. of Thomas WV, Edwin Davis of Quinwood WV, and Owen "Doc" Davis of Florida; four grandchildren, Jacob, Kaity, and Jaron Jett, and Anne Pingley; several nieces and nephews, including special nephews, Joe, John and Ralph Powell and Dennis Stump.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jolene; two sisters, Arzola Larch and Belle Ballard; and a brother, Enoch Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastors John Powell and George Rose officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Ridge Cemetery.
