Head coach Alan Fiddler's Glenville State College Pioneer football team joined NCAA Division II schools meeting Thursday afternoon for their first practice of the 2008-09 season.
They have 24 practices sessions scheduled before the season opener with Lock Haven University in PA.

Almost a month will pass before the Pioneers play at home when they face Seton Hill University, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m.
The Pioneers are 130 strong and expecting 10 additional players when school begins.
Hut 1, Hut 2...Centers and the
quarterbacks work out Thursday.
"We're an older team," Fiddler said. Nineteen seniors are returning from last year. "We've got good leadership from them."
Between the first practice and the initial game the schedule and pace is tough.
Players will spend three hours a day in meetings. Offensively and defensively 10-15 plays per day are introduced to the players.
The defense will be expected to know up to 100 variations of formations and plays. The offensive team's play book will likely top the 200 number.
Players stretch as practice gets underway. They'll go
from the field, to watching films, weight training,
classroom work and back during the next few weeks.
It's hectic, it's hot; it's football.
When football practice starts a new school year isn't far behind. This year classes begin Aug. 18.
At Glenville State College new students arrive Friday, Aug. 15, greeted by a Fall Convocation at 2 p.m. The following day beginning at 11:30 a.m., students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to a luncheon on the Clark Hall lawn.
