The Calhoun Middle High School Youth Force project has been awarded a $5,000 community technology grant from The Alliance of West Virginia Champion Communities.
The purpose of this funding is to purchase video production equipment to provide youth an outlet through technology to promote substance abuse free and positive behavior lifestyles.
The Calhoun Pride team will begin writing and producing public service announcements this fall with the first video release hopeful by December.
Once the videos have been produced a web link will be provided for viewing as well as distribution for public viewing in other media outlets.
Calhoun Middle High School Youth Force is dedicated to raising community awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drug use with a primary focus on underage consumption of alcohol. Through collaborative efforts we plan to develop and sustain programming and tools for the youth of Calhoun County to live healthy and substance free lives. Our program will continue to promote community partnership and accountability as a prevention method.
Freshman through Senior's are encouraged to join the PRIDE team who meet each Monday after school. Sign-up forms will be available at the National Night Out in Grantsville, Tuesday, August 5th from 6-8 p.m. at the PRIDE table on Main Street.
Students must be in agreement to signing a pledge form to live and promote a substance free life. Those forms will be made available that evening.
