Calhoun's only manufacturing company is reportedly suffering a set-back because of the sale of a Dayton, Ohio company that used RPR Industries to complete firefighters suits.
The company notified RPR last week they would no longer use the Grantsville plant.
The plant's sewing crew, about 30 people, have apparently lost their jobs, although an employee told the Herald RPR is "working hard to get contract work," and some of those workers could be re-hired.
A spokesperson for the company declined to comment about the problem.
RPR is located just west of Grantsville, but they are currently operating a second operation in the old Goodrich building on Russett Road.
That operation is continuing to make mine rescue tents.
RPR also does some contract work for Coldwater Creek. |
