The mosquito borne West Nile Virus is still around.
So far this year, mosquitoes carrying West Nile have been discovered in Kanawha and Jackson County.
No cases of humans with the disease have been reported.
A public health entomologist with the state Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program says he and a group of college interns are setting traps and expect to collect 24,000 mosquitoes this year for testing.
Several cases of West Nile have been reported in previous years.
Most infected people don't become ill, but 7 to 10 percent of cases are fatal.
Mosquito season is May through October with most of the insects appearing in July and August when the weather is hot and humid.
