James E. Richards, 68, of Parkersburg died November 24, 2001, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1933, in Calhoun County, a son of the late Arthur and
Minnie Bennett Richards. He had formerly been employed with the J.L. Steel Mill
of Cleveland, Ohio, as a furnace operator, the Kaiser Nelson Demolition
Company of Cleveland, Ohio, as a demolition expert, and was more recently
employed as a heavy equipment operator in Arkansas with the R.J. Bob Jones
Construction Company. He was a United States Army veteran with service during
the Korean Conflict, an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed building and
racing stock cars.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Shultz Richards of Parkersburg; four sons,
Ronnie Kerns of Arizona, William "Billy" Kerns of Beckley, Danny Kerns of
Florida and James E. Richards Jr. of Parkersburg; five daughters, Lynn and
Darlene Richards, both of Morgantown, Karen Kitchen of Virginia, Sandra
Bonnefond of Maryland and Kellie Richards Moore of Parkersburg; two brothers,
Cecil Richards of Elizabeth and Charles Richards of Parkersburg; one sister,
Juanita Richards of Parkersburg; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews; and companion and pet bulldog, Ashley Lynn
Kitchen.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Richards; one sister, Evelyn Hall
and three grandchildren.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, the Rev. Richard Runion officiating. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery,
Parkersburg. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. |
