The community came together to fight cancer
The weather cooperated for the The 10th annual American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, held Saturday at Wayne Underwood Field in Grantsville.
Organizers announced early Saturday about $20,000 had been raised by teams and other fund-raising efforts, with more to be added with the evening's events.
Perhaps most inspiring is the large number of cancer survivors - family members, neighbors and friends, who participate in the event.
Relay is a time for the community to come together.
"Cruisin' for a Cure" was the theme for this year's event, with lots of flashbacks to the 50s and 60s.
The lighting of several hundred luminarias positioned around the field's walking track is a reminder of how cancer has affected the community.
The ceremony honors and remembers those who have battled cancer.
Relay For Life is a life changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people each year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and
fight back against a disease that hurts too much.
