HUNTINGTON PASTOR MURDERED - The pastor of Highlawn Presbyterian Church in Huntington has been murdered in nearby Wayne County.
Wayne County Sheriff David Pennington said Rev. Mark McCalla was found dead at a rifle range in the Beech Fork area, Thursday.
McCalla died of at least one gun shot wound to the head.
A state forestry worker found the body, authorities said it was dragged a short distance from the crime scene toward a wooded area.
Authorities indicated McCalla's rifle and wallet are missing.
Sheriff's deputies, state troopers and Huntington Police investigators have scoured the area for clues.
The sheriff said they collected a lot of evidence.
MAN THREATENS GIRLFRIEND - Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say a man who threatened to kill his girlfriend had weapons loaded and ready to get the job done.
Deputies say Joe Workman, Jr. beat his girlfriend, held a gun to her head and threatened her in their home in Slack's Trailer Park in Miliken.
Deputies found a pistol in Workman's pocket and various firearms, including an assault rifle, in both his vehicle and home.
He is being charged with domestic battery and weapons charges.
ELKINS HOME INVASION - State Police in Randolph County have made an arrest in a home invasion robbery.
They say Jeremy Pennington, 26 of Elkins, showed up at a home in the Teaberry Hills subdivision and lured the 84-year-old man and the 73-year-old woman who live in the house, into a guest bedroom, hit the man and bound them by their hands and feet.
Pennington claimed he had a gun and then got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Troopers arrested Pennington on Rich Mountain.
