The D and D Arcade and "Sugar Shack" ice cream parlor are open for business in Arnoldsburg.
The arcade has pool tables, video games, a quarter pusher, a jukebox and other attractions.
The ice ream parlor features hand dipped ice cream and tasty soft serve. Also available are Twisters (similar to blizzards or flurries) a big hit with 12 different toppings. Owner, Pete Sims says, "We will also be serving Brown Cow, Black Cow and Orange Cow floats, made with Root beer, Coke, or Orange Crush.
The businesses are two of three to be located in the former "Y" Mart building at the intersection of US 33-119 and Rt. 16.
Opening soon adjacent the arcade and ice cream parlor will be a pizza and deli restaurant.
Sims, who purchased the Sturm Farm at Arnoldsburg last year, said "We saw this place on the Internet, and knew this is where we wanted to settle."
An aviation professional, Sims has traveled all over the world, before his "retirement."
"People in Calhoun could not have treated us any better. They have made our family really welcome," he said.
