A slow rain began to damper the region last night after at least two forest
fires were reported. A fire near the B. A. Wright residence between Henry's
Fork and the West Fork of the Little Kanawha burned for several hours.
The Arnoldsburg VFD responded to the blaze. The fire was contained in a
remote area on a mountain between the two streams, but the problem was
resolved when a slow rain shower, the first in many weeks, moved into the
area.
Wirt County had a more troublesome forest fire in the Lower Grieve's Run
area, where at least 12 acres burned yesterday afternoon. The blaze was
brought under control with the use of a bulldozer.
