SFC Darrell "Bud" Seabolt, (U.S. Army Ret.), 76, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at home, after an extended illness.
He was born Friday, February 26, 1932, at Sandyville, Jackson County, a son of the late Jerrie and Hazel Starcher Seabolt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Auline Seabolt; one stepson, Gary Cather; one brother, David Seabolt; one sister, Emma Devore.
Bud was a 32 year Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21 and Irvin F. Conley V.F.W. Post 5783 both of Spencer.
Survivors include his companion, Ruth E. Squires of Spencer; two stepsons, David and Gene Cather both of Ravenswood; two stepdaughters, Robin Lowe of Silverton and Linda Cunningham of Ravenswood; one stepdaughter-in-law, Sallie Cather of Murraysville; four sisters, Dorothy M. Richards of Mt. Gilead, OH, Helen Virginia Brisendine of Paden City, Judy Neville of Sandyville and Kathy Julen of Burnsville, MS; three brothers, Jerry Seabolt of Chicago, IL, Gerald Seabolt of Ripley and Eugene Seabolt of Ravenswood.
The funeral service will be held Friday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. John W. Lowe officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in the Hebron Cemetery, Spencer.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
