UNEMPLOYMENT WORKERS BEING 'DOWNSIZED' TO 'SERVE YOU BETTER'

According to the state of West Virginia, federal funding cuts and a decreased workload are closing some unemployment offices in the Mountain State.

With unemployment not being a really big problem in the Mountain State, cutbacks should be expected.

The agency says they are streamlining resources to better meet needs across West Virginia.

That statement is akin to the Hur Herald's frequent publishing of an often used statement when people get fired by 'downsizing' - "We're cutting our staff in order to serve you better."

Offices in Williamson, Pt. Pleasant and New Martinsville are reducing the days of operation.

It would appear that some agency workers are also losing their jobs, further contributing to the "low unemployment" numbers in West Virginia.

They too will become lost in the statistics when their unemployment account runs out and they still do not have a job or have left the state.
