Eleven Calhoun High graduates and eleven teachers received special recognition last night at the Ninth Annual Honor Graduates Banquet.
The honored teachers were selected by the honor students.
The students, parents and educators gathered for a sit-down dinner and awards ceremony at Mt. Zion.
Dr. Mary Harris-John (pictured left) from Marshall University's Graduate College told the honor students they should cling to their families, their spiritual values and their education, as a way to survive "these really hard economic times."
Calhoun High principal Karen Kirby said "Tonight we honor the best of the best, students whom have reached the highest academic achievements."
Calhoun Superintendent of Schools Jane Lynch recognized the honor grads and their teachers.
