Russell Junior Carter, 71 - Millstone

Russell Junior Carter, 71, of Millstone, West Virginia went to be with the Lord May 25, 2008 at his home following a long illness.

He was born in Calhoun County, March 31, 1936, a son of the late Samuel Russell Carter and Losie Helmick Carter of Nicut.

He was retired from the Mt. Zion Public Service District and was a US Army veteran and was stationed in Germany. He was a former employee of C&P Telephone Company and Penn Line Service for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Norma Lee Schartiger Carter; two sons, Tim Carter and his wife Denise of Arnoldsburg, WV and Roger Carter and his wife Dana of Millstone; two daughters, Diane Carter, and Susan Hughes and her husband David all of Millstone.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Adam Carter and his wife Heather of Millstone, Jade Fox of Ripley, WV, Stephanie Stacy, Chad Hughes, Bridget Carter, Coty Pursley, Heather Hughes, and Amanda Carter; one great granddaughter, Maycee Carter.

Also, three 3 brothers, Gene Carter and his wife Irene of Nicut, Jerry D. Carter and his wife Wiladean of Rittman, Ohio, and Michael Carter and his wife Charlotte of Chloe, WV; 6 sisters, Opal Kirchburg and her husband Jack of Glenville, WV, Sharon Jarvis of Sand Fork, WV, Judy Dobbins and her husband Jim of Athens, Alabama, Nina Wilfong and her husband John of Linn, WV, Louise Ice and her husband Randy of Spencer, WV, Elsie Jarvis and her husband Beryl of McClenney, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Westfall and Velma Hicks.

He was a Baptist by faith and was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Rev. Robert Shannon will officiate. Interment will be in the King Cemetery at Nicut.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
