With scarce water to squelch a Pine
Creek fire, Firemen make an effort...

... to bring the roaring fire under control

The home of an elderly Pine Creek woman was completely destroyed by fire Saturday evening.

The roaring fire generated extremely high temperatures, melting the side of a car and igniting a cellar house.

Bettie Kisner, about 85, called 911 screaming, moments before fleeing her burning house, an initial report indicated she heard an explosion.

She lost everything.

Kisner, who lived alone, went to a neighbors house, expressing concern about her two dogs.

Firemen and Calhoun EMS personnel spent a considerable time capturing the frightened animals.

Grantsville firemen received the first call at 7:35 p.m. The Arnoldsburg VFD also responded with water tankers.

Kisner has owned and lived in what neighbor's called the Marsh house for a number of years.

The house was located on lower Pine Creek, about five miles from Rt. 16, Mt. Zion.

She reportedly has children living in other states.

Firemen returned to the scene for a rekindle just before midnight.
