West Virginia Division of Highways has announced that the Barnett Bridge, 54-14-6.93, over Tygart Creek in Wood County will be closed on May 17 and 18 for load testing and inspection, according to Rusty Roten, District Engineer.
The Barnett Bridge located at the horseshoe curve on WV 14 near Mineral Wells will be closed on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. each day to facilitate a load rating test as part of a FHWA/Drexel University Study, weather permitting.
However, the testing crew has agreed to open the bridge to accommodate emergency vehicles, if necessary.
A detour will be in place during the testing hours, specifically, Wood CR 21 to the Rockport Interchanges at I-77. This detour is approximately 15 miles; therefore, motorists should plan additional time for their travel.
Flagging personnel will be present on Wood CR 21, the detour route, at certain times during the scheduled test to direct traffic. This may cause additional minimal delays for motorists.
The Division of Highways appreciates the patience of the traveling public during these closures.
