Making gifts for Mother's Day

The ninth 2007-2008 Saturday Fun and Learning Day sponsored by Heads Up, GEAR UP and the Parent-Educator Resource Center was held Saturday, May 10th at Calhoun Middle-High School.
Breakfast was served to all participants with children having the opportunity to make pancakes for their moms.
After breakfast the parents received information from Trish McElhaney, Community Liaison and Outreach Administrator for the West Virginia Crime Victims Compensation Fund and the children created Mother's day gifts and a father's day gift.
After the children and parents were reunited, the morning was spent in creating scrapbooks utilizing pictures taken at Saturday Fun and Learning Days.
There were over 150 in attendance on Saturday with the following parents winning door prizes, $20 Pit Stop gift cards from Heads Up were Sharon Beckett and Mary Templon and winner of the Mother's day gift donated by GEAR UP was Christina Vandal. Winners of porcelain vases donated by Vickie Baker were, Jessica Bell, Donna Griffin, Nikki Heiney, Linda Husk, Julie Jarvis, Ann Lacy, Beverly Metz, and Chasidy Rush.
Everyone eligible for the Idlewild Trip on May 31st also received a red draw-cord backpack to take on the trip.
