Community leader Misty Pritt accepts donated 11-acre
site for a proposed Normantown school from Rick Frame
"Normantown school, like many small, rural West Virginia schools has been on the list to close and consolidate," said Misty Pritt, a Normantown parent and Gilmer County school board candidate.
Pritt has helped lead the community in saving the school, with some promise that a new structure could be funded for the community by the School Building Authority.
Pritt says Normantown resident Rick Frame, a candidate for House of Delegates for the 33rd District, has boosted the effort by "generously donating 11 acres for the proposed school."
The SBA denied the Normantown Project this funding cycle, awarding only $100,000 for additional mobile classrooms.
"With Gilmer County's options dwindling, Mr. Frame has shone a ray of hope for Normantown, expressing his generosity and concern for our children," Pritt said.
