Alice Marie Arnold, 93, of Coolville, Ohio, passed away on April 4, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.
She was born July 26, 1914, at Walnut, W.Va., the daughter of Charles Clinton and Ettie Duffield Knotts. She married Roy Ernest Arnold on April 22, 1934.
She was a homemaker and helped her husband work in a small grocery store at Nicut, W.Va., and a small grocery store and service station at Orma, W.Va.
She and her husband moved to Coolville in 1977 and joined the Torch Baptist Church, where she was active as a deaconess, VBS helper, Sunday morning greeter and the Women's Mission Society.
She was a member of the Golden Banner Sunday School Class. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by a close companion, Lewis Kaczmarski of Little Hocking; two sons, Herbert Neal (Joyce) Arnold of Vienna and David Edsel (Betty) Arnold of Coolville; six grandchildren, Mark (Tammy) Arnold of St. Louis, Mo., Tammy (Mike) Whitnable of Vincent, Ohio, Matthew Arnold of Youngstown, Ohio, Jonathan (Amy) Arnold of Clemmons, N.C., Jeffrey (Sondra) Arnold of Belpre and Lisa (Darrin) Walker of Belpre; 13 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron and Ben Arnold of St. Louis, Mo., Ryan and Kristin Whitnable of Vincent, Larry Armes and Stephen Arnold of Youngstown, Lily Arnold of Clemmons, N.C., Courtney (Andy) Holbrook of Parkersburg, Ashley and Bradley Arnold of Belpre and Samantha and Marcus Walker of Belpre; and one sister, Juanita Siers of Fayetteville, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, who passed away on March 25, 1984; and six brothers, Basil, Thomas, Cecil, Scott, Bernard and Charles; four sisters, Sadie, Reva, Opal and Jean; and one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Arnold.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Torch Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Runion officiating. Burial will be in the Troy Township Cemetery in Torch, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
