Calhoun County Circuit Clerk Shelia Garretson
receives $26,000 grant from Gov. Joe Manchin

Calhoun Circuit Clerk Shelia Garretson has received grant money from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History for records preservation in her office.

The grant, about $26,000, was presented to Garretson Thursday by Gov. Joe Manchin in Charleston. The Calhoun Commission is issuing matching money for the project.

The Records Management and Preservation Board (RMPB) has awarded $292,457 in grant funds to twenty-two West Virginia county commissions for county records management and preservation projects.

The Circuit Clerk's office will use the grant money to preserve court records, says Garretson.

She plans to install a manually operated movable track shelving system, which will not only help preserve court records but make them more readily available to the public.

"Your grant application was one of many good proposals," wrote Acting Division of Culture Director Joe Geiger.
