| Clara Bell Newell, 85, of Mt. Zion, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Minnie Hamilton Health Care System, Grantsville.
Clara was born in Calhoun, daughter of the late William David and Esta Palmer, and was the oldest of eight sisters.
She was a homemaker and a cook.
Surviving, son, Jim Newell of Grantsville; four grandchildren, Shelley Stevens, Kelly Whytsell, Tommy Newell of Grantsville and Michael Newell of Huntington; nine great-grandchildren.
Five sisters, Alice Ramsey, Leora Mae Kalman and Dola (Dode) Palmer all of Maryland, Cora Foester of Pennsylvania and Lora (Nell) Hewitt of Michigan; her special friend and caregiver Audrey (Jeannie) Smith of Mt. Zion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy W. Newell; an infant daughter Judith Ann; a daughter Georgia (Lou) Kish; sisters, Grace Palmer and Delma Ruth Kerby.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. Interment will be in the Sand Ridge Cemetery.
