The folks from the Bell Chapel church motored over to Burning Springs for Easter sunrise services along with a breakfast of tasty home made biscuits, sausage, gravy, eggs, fried potatoes, fruit, juice and doughnuts. Rev. Juanita Lockhart noted that her knee surgery is set for April 8. Keith Belt brought the message.
Early risers on Good Friday noted that the fire trucks were going up the Ann's Run road. It was determined that there was a chimney fire at the Starcher residence on the old Fillmore Simmons farm and all was under control and there was no loss.
The Little Creek church put on Easter an party Sunday afternoon at the Creston Community Building. There was a big turnout and everyone reported having a wonderful time.
Rick Starcher is having a new roof put on his residence.
Andrea and Brandon Ferrell were visiting Mr. & Mrs. Carl Ferrell and Jeremy. Also visiting the Ferrell family were Freddy Boice & Tammy Sleezman and children.
Richard McFall has been working on his chariot.
Jodie Goff was calling on Charles & Euell Russell not so long ago.
It was learned that McKenzie Engineering from Summersville was hired to complete the 911 mapping and addressing for Calhoun County. A few years back McKenzie left Wirt and Wood Counties holding the bag after collecting $$ for work not done. In addition he made up names and gave them to local roads and set up directions for emergency workers that were backwards. He and the postal folks down at the Mouth of the Elk also sold new addresses which the Elizabeth postal folks didn't honor which caused problems with residents who didn't receive their utility bills, etc. but did get to meet the shut off men. McKenzie's financial shenanigans resulted in the wizards down at the Mouth of the Elk's hiring of a slickster firm from Vermont that, in turn, had to be run off but not before they pocketed millions more from state taxpayers.
Local residents have joined others elsewhere in singing the blues about the price of fertilize which is now in the $500 - $700/ton range. It was understood that one large area farm operation was going to purchase no fertilize and only use chicken droppings from the eastern part of the state. Of course one has to have access to 18-wheelers to obtain the chicken waste.
Buds are swelling and flowers are blooming although the DNR's deer are busy eating tulips and crocuses. Domestic stock has had a taste of green grass and, rather than eat hay, look for holes in fences to find greener grass elsewhere.
Local residents have been following the national political circus. First B. Hussein Obama's preacher's rantings were made available to ordinary folks. His attacks on Jews, for one who claims to be a Christian are problematic inasmuch as Jesus, Matthew, Mark, Mary, David, Solomon, Moses, John the Baptist, Isaiah, Joseph, Jonah, Joshua, Peter & Paul, just to name a few Biblical heroes were all Hebrew people. The articulate candidate's response to criticism of the preacher show him to be just another "snake oil salesman" to quote the late Booker T. Washington.
Then, her thighness, Madame Hillary's financial backers, the Communist Chinese, were caught again practicing genocide in Tibet. Of course they blame the Dalai Lama, a spiritual leader who has no army for all the killing and destruction. The Chicoms have worked hard to destroy the Tibetan culture as communists do not tolerate religion.
Meanwhile Sen. McVain has been sending out surrogates to "put conservatives in their place." It would seem that we would have but little choice but to pray for deliverance and divine guidance during this election season.
The price of local Penn grade crude fell $2.75/bbl on Good Friday to $95.50/bbl.
The Charleston newspaper found out that there is lots of excitement in West Virginia over the Marcellus shale a blanket gas source rock that underlays almost the entire state. Chesapeake noted that they had 1 million acres of Marcellus under lease while Eastern American and Petroedge (Haughts), Equitable and Cabot have been drilling wells to the Marcellus.
Cabot reported that they drilled a horizontal into the Huron shale and hit a 1 million natural. Down in Texas Cabot drilled a 5,400 lateral in a 12,860-foot well that was said to be a dandy in the 10 million range or about equal to some of the new vertical wells the company drilled down in the coal counties.
It was also reported that Chesapeake, Eastern American and the Haughts (Petroedge) have a suit before the W. Va. Supremes against the coal association over the spacing of Marcellus wells.
Enron, more recently known as EOG Resources [Enron Oil & Gas] sold their Creston area oil and gas interests to EXCO which is said to be the parent company of North Coast Energy. Frank Rotunda signed the papers as an EXCO executive and he formerly was associated with Energy Search, Inc. which later became Enron. Apparently it pays to have Clinton associate Robert Rubin as one's lawyer as Enron apparently kept all the assets and left creditors holding the bag. Rubin who looks after one of the big New York banks was the Clinton Treasury secretary in addition to being Enron's mouthpiece.
