The 2008 Calhoun County 4-H Poster Contest was held Wednesday, February 20th. All members were encouraged to participate by submitting a poster in one of five topic areas, 4-H Promotion, 4-H Health, 4-H Recycling-Litter, 4-H Safety, and 4-H Dairy.
Fifteen Calhoun County 4-H'ers turned in 30 posters. Participants were, Valarie Barr, Jessica Cosgrove, Amber Frymier, Andrea Frymier, Ashley Houchin, Sara Husk, Chandler James, Chris Lacy, Arla Lane, Jordan Mace, Rebbicca Newlon, Caitlin Roberts, Ryan Swearengin, Holly Wilson, and Jessica Wood. The Extension Office would like to thank each of the participants for their hard work.
The first place winners in 4-H promotion, 4-H Health, 4-H Recycling, and 4-H Safety categories as well as the first, second, and third place winners in the Dairy category have been sent to Morgantown to be judged at the state level.
County winners are
4-H Promotion: Junior: 1st-Sara Husk, 2nd-Rebbicca Newlon,
3rd-Caitlin Roberts; Senior: 1st-Jessica Cosgrove, 2nd-Jessica Cosgrove, 3rd-Ashley Houchin.
4-H Health: Junior: 1st-Caitlin Roberts, 2nd-Chris Lacy,
3rd-Chandler James; Senior: 1st-Jessica Cosgrove, 2nd-Jessica Cosgrove.
4-H Recycling-Litter: Junior: 1st- (tie) Valarie Barr and Sara Husk; Senior: 1st-Jessica Cosgrove, 2nd-Jessica Wood, 3rd-Arla Lane.
4-H Safety: Junior: 1st-Ryan Swearengin; Senior: 1st- (tie) Jessica Cosgrove and Jessica Wood, 3rd-Jessica Cosgrove.
4-H Dairy: 3rd grade-11 years: 1st-Valarie Barr, 2nd-Amber Frymier; 15-21 years: 1st-Jessica Cosgrove, 2nd-Jessica Cosgrove.
