Aaron Michael Bland, 36, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008. A Christian going home to the Lord.
He was born Sept. 4, 1971, in Parkersburg, a son of James Bland and Sandy Shears of Elizabeth. Aaron spent most of his childhood growing up in Elizabeth and graduated from Wirt County High School in 1989 and from Glenville State College.
He was employed by Verizon Wireless in Dublin, where he always took great pride in his work. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge of Wilmington, N.C.
He is survived by his father, James (Jeanie) Bland of Elizabeth; his mother, Sandy (Phil) Shears of Elizabeth; grandmother, Lillian Bland of Grantsville, W.Va.; grandparents, Jim and Mary Somerville of Elizabeth; sister, Ashley Bland (Alan) Wanosky of Parkersburg; stepbrother, Jeff (Stephanie) Shears of Lewisburg, W.Va.; stepbrother, Steve Shears of Elizabeth; stepbrother, Steve Shaffer of Glenville; and stepsister, Kristi Shaffer of Parkersburg.
He is also survived by two very special nieces that brought out the very best in him, Gillian and Juliet Wanosky.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Lawrence Bland of Grantsville. "Our family takes great comfort in knowing that Aaron has been reunited with his 'gran-dad.'"
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Busch-Kimes Funeral Home, 836 Washington St., Elizabeth, with Pastor Harold Francis and the Rev. Mark McCloy officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P Cemetery with masonic graveside rites to be conducted by Wirt Masonic Lodge 82. Friends may visit the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
