A state task force charged with monitoring West Virginia's pay phone market has been disbanded.

Pay phones have given way to cell phones in most places.

A final report says the number of pay phones in West Virginia has fallen by nearly 50% since 1998.

Still, many rural WV counties have terrible cell phone service, leaving many residents without the once helpful device.
