It was senior night in Mason Friday and the Wahama senior basketball players wanted to go out with a bang.
And that's exactly what they did and four of them were on the floor to celebrate the White Falcons' 100th point in a 105-43 shellacking of winless Calhoun County.
The game was never close as the senior laden Falcons - they have six and start five - jumped on top early and put things away quickly.
Wahama roared to a 32-3 first quarter lead as Calhoun was unable to get anything going offensively or defensively and only managed to rack up a bunch of early fouls as Andrew Norman had three in the first period and Justin Gerwig two and they are the Red Devils' two leading scorers.
Calhoun found a bit of offense in the second quarter and scored 12 points, despite losing Norman to the bench with his fourth foul early in the period. But while Calhoun was scoring a dozen Wahama was netting 23 and a 55-15 halftime lead.
In the first half Calhoun, which is normally a strong rebounding team, was hammered on the boards by the bigger Falcons to the tune of 23-3.
Things got no better in the second half as the Falcons, now 14-8, poured it on and outscored the Red Devils 32-7 for an 87-22 lead and a real good shot at the century mark.
The Falcons did get the century mark in the fourth quarter with starters galore on the floor but were still outscored in the final stanza by the Red Devils as Norman came back into the game and finished up without fouling out.
Two of his teammates did as Gerwig had five personals and was held to a single point and freshman Tyler Bennett added five points to go along with his five fouls.
Chuck Kendall led Calhoun, 0-22, with 12 points while Josh Cain added nine.
Cai Clothier had four points and Daniel Sims added three and Harold McCumbers two. Greg Myers and Anthony Richards both played but did not score.
Wahama, which is 6-5, 6-4, 6-1 across the front, out rebounded Calhoun 40-15. Norman had five to lead Calhoun while Clothier had four.
Wahama senior Jordan Smith, who did not start, led the way with 30 points. Justin Arnold backed him with 19 while Kyle Zerkle added 13 and Keith Pearson 12.
Wahama also won the junior varsity game by a 70-27 count.
Wahama, now 6-12, was led by Matt Arnold with 22 while Rodney Braggs notched 17 and Ryan Lee 15.
Quentin 'Q Dog' Murphy and Myers led Calhoun, 0-20, with five apiece. Sims added three while Joe Overbaugh, Bennett, Kendall, Clothier, Stuart Fitzwater and Jordan Panarello had two each. McCumbers, Norman and Dennis Dye all played but did not score.
Calhoun goes into tournament action Tuesday night in Glenville.
