James O. Stalnaker, 93, of the Leachtown community, formerly of Spencer, West Virginia, died February 18, 2008, after a brief illness at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born November 28, 1914 in Orma, WV, a son of the late Clark and Nora Hughes Stalnaker. He was a Veteran of the US Army, having achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Jim spent the majority of his life as a cattle farmer and his later years playing golf and spending time with his grandsons. He was a member of the Boggs Fork Community Church and the WV Farm Bureau.
Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sara Stalnaker; grandsons, Brandon Kyle, Matthew Ryan and Andrew Cain Stalnaker all of Leachtown; four sisters, Brunna Penman of Mesa, AZ, Juanita Shorb of Pinetop, AZ, Emma Deel of Minnora, WV, and and Naomi Simms of Waterloo, SC; several nieces and nephews; he is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Danny and Grace Baum, Erma Cottrell, and Walter Luzader.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Luzader Stalnaker; four brothers, Fenton, Eucal, Euell and Bee; and one sister, Eupha Stalnaker Jones.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 23 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Interment will be in the Orma United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. |
