A recently divorced woman is dead and a man seriously injured in a murder and suicide attempt Sunday on U.S. 119 south of Walton in Roane County. State Police have identified the victim of a gunshot wound near Walton yesterday. Candis Kuhn, 43, formerly of Marmet, died from a rifle shot to the head at the home of her ex-husband, Nolan "Billy" Kuhn, 45, at 9526 Charleston Road (U.S. 119) just south of Walton, said Sgt. K.G. McCord with the West Virginia State Police. State Police and a Roane County Sheriff's deputy found Nolan Kuhn seriously injured from a self-inflicted wound when they arrived on scene. He was sent by HealthNet to Charleston Area Medical Center. CAMC said Kuhn was under evaluation. Police indicated there was a history of domestic problems at the residence. Roane County 911 believe they received a call from Kuhn regarding the shooting. The caller hung-up and did not answer a call-back. Police found a dog that had died of a gunshot wound at Candis Kuhn's feet, McCord said. Kuhn'a body was sent to the medical examiner.
